Applications

Iso-centre indication for accelerator · cobalt · simulator · CT-sim

Linac iso-centre indication

Two cross lasers and one linear laser converge at the linac iso-centre. The cross projection marks the lateral patient axes; the linear projection marks the sagittal midline. Daily QA reads each axis independently against the radiation iso-centre.

Cobalt unit iso-centre

Same laser configuration on cobalt teletherapy units. The < 0.5 mm adjustment precision is tighter than the typical cobalt-unit gantry positioning tolerance, so the lasers do not contribute to the dominant setup error.

CT-simulator marking room

Patient marking using the fixed cross / linear projection. The advanced adjustment system fine-tunes the projection without requiring full re-alignment of the head when small position corrections are needed.

Conventional simulator

Conventional X-ray simulator iso-centre indication for older planning workflows. The system serves both digital CT-sim and conventional simulator workflows from one installed laser set.

Stereotactic / SBRT setup

The < 0.5 mm adjustment precision meets stereotactic-class patient-positioning expectations. Higher-precision SRS / SBRT treatments run without a separate dedicated laser system.

Multi-room facility standardisation

A multi-vault radiotherapy department installs the same Saxsons fixed laser system in every treatment room. Consistent alignment standard across rooms — patient-position transfer between machines (machine-down day, multi-site treatment) stays coherent.

Why Saxsons Fixed Laser Positioning System?

< 0.5 mm
ISO-centre adjustment precision

< 0.5 mm ISO-centre adjustment precision is tighter than the AAPM TG-142 stereotactic-class 1 mm threshold by a factor of two. The room is engineered for stereotactic treatments by default — no separate alignment cycle when SRS / SBRT patients arrive on the linac.

Red 635 nm · Class II
Semiconductor laser source

Class II semiconductor red 635 nm laser source — eye-safe under the IEC 60825-1 Class II classification, high-brightness against typical clinical lighting, and stable without drift compared to older gas-laser tube designs. The line is bright enough to read in the brightly-lit CT-sim and treatment-vault rooms.

2 cross + 1 linear
Each set, complete coverage

Two cross lasers project orthogonal cross-hairs on the patient sides; one linear laser projects the sagittal midline. Three independent alignment axes converge at the iso-centre. Daily QA reads each axis separately — drift in one axis without the others is the first signal of a specific-mount issue.
