Cyclotron-grade [18O]H₂O target water for F-18 production via the ¹⁸O(p,n)¹⁸F reaction. Isotopic enrichment 98–99 % atom O-18, chemical purity > 99.99 %, conductivity < 3.0 µS/cm, sterile and pyrogen-free (< 0.25 EU/mL), pH 6.0–8.0. Supplied in sealed crimp-cap glass vials with chlorobutyl rubber septum, sterilised prior to filling. [18F]FDG production

The default target water for [18F]FDG synthesis — the F-18 from 98–99 % O-18 water feeds the FDG synthesis module with the activity profile FDG-grade kits expect. Higher enrichment means higher per-shot F-18 activity for the same beam time.

[18F]NaF skeletal imaging

F-18 production for [18F]NaF skeletal-imaging tracer. NaF formulation is a downstream radiochemistry step from the same target water — same isotopic spec, same vial spec.

[18F]PSMA + neuro tracers

F-18 production for emerging clinical tracers — [18F]PSMA-1007, [18F]Flutemetamol, [18F]Florbetapir and [18F]choline. High-enrichment target water gives sharper per-shot activity for the small-volume target-loading workflow these tracers use.

Investigator-initiated F-18 work

IIP F-18 labelling and method-development workflows — same target water, same isotopic spec. The CoA serves as the input-material qualification record for the investigator protocol.

O-18 water recovery + recycling

After F-18 elution, the post-irradiation target water can be ion-exchanged + concentrated for re-use. Higher-enrichment input water means higher-enrichment recovered water — supports closed-loop O-18 water economics for high-volume sites.

Cyclotron target validation

On a new target body or after a target rebuild, the target validation run uses certified-spec water — eliminates the input-material variable when characterising target performance.

Atom O-18 enrichment

The 18O(p,n)18F cross section scales with the O-18 atom fraction. Moving from 95–97 % entry-grade water to 98–99 % cyclotron-grade gives a measurable per-shot activity boost — same beam time, more F-18 at end-of-bombardment, more patient doses per batch.

Conductivity gate

Ionic impurities in target water co-irradiate with the O-18 and produce parasitic radionuclides (Na-22 from Na, Co-58 from target-body contact). The < 3.0 µS/cm conductivity spec gates the input material below the threshold where these by-products show up on the QC gamma spectrum.

CoA per lot
Inspection-ready

Per-batch certificate of analysis is the input-material qualification record for the cyclotron GMP file. AERB inspection of a PET radiopharmacy reads the CoA chain; cold-chain delivery preserves the chain from manufacture to target loading.
