Vertical laminar flow + lead-lined chassis: sterile compounding behind radiopharmacy shielding
Class A vertical-flow work zone for sterile compounding of unit-dose radiopharmaceuticals where bacterial contamination is the dominant risk — Lu-177-PSMA / DOTATATE / FAPI labelling, Ga-68-DOTATOC / PSMA-11 elution-and-label workflow.
Tc-99m cold-kit (MDP, MIBI, ECD, MAG3, DMSA) reconstitution under sterile vertical flow. The pre-filter + HEPA combo keeps the work-zone air at ISO 5 throughout the kit-add and decay-build cycles.
5 mm Pb tier accommodates the per-batch labelling activity (≤ 7.4 GBq). Vertical flow keeps the compounding-zone air separated from the operator face; HEPA + UV between-batch covers the bacterial-control side.
Ga-68 generator elution + DOTATATE / PSMA-11 labelling under Class A. The Saxsons 5 mm Pb tier covers the per-elution activity (≤ 1.85 GBq); HEPA + UV covers the sterility.
SS 304 inner + outer with integrated water-drainage wash-basin — for GMP-grade radiopharmacies running cleaning-validation. The wash-basin sits inside the cleaning-cycle SOP for operator hand-wash before / between compounding cycles.
Optional anti-microbial UV / chemical sweep for high-contamination-risk workflows. Pairs with the standard HEPA + UV decontamination cycle on the between-shift schedule.
Vertical laminar flow keeps the operator-side air out of the compounding zone — the air flows DOWN through the HEPA filter onto the work surface, then OUT and AWAY from the operator face. ISO 14644 Class 5 / EU GMP Grade A air quality at the compounding surface; the radiopharmacist works above a sterile field.
H14 HEPA filter rated at 99.995 % efficiency at the 0.3 µm Most Penetrating Particle Size (MPPS). Bacterial contamination, particulate fall-out and sub-µm aerosols are removed before the air enters the work zone. Pre-filter handles larger particulates and extends HEPA service life.
The radiopharmaceutical labelling chemistry happens inside the hood — Lu-177 PSMA / DOTATATE / FAPI, Ga-68 DOTATOC. The 5 mm Pb tier handles the per-batch activity range. The 3 mm Pb tier is the cost-optimised choice for lower-activity sterile-prep workflows.
