Saxsons own-brand lead-lined syringe shield engineered for SPECT radiopharmaceutical dispensing — Tc-99m kits at 140 keV, I-131 at 364 keV, Ga-67 / In-111 / Tl-201 in between. 3 mm lead is the routine Tc-99m tier delivering > 99.95 % attenuation; 6 mm and 9 mm tiers step up for I-131 and the higher-energy SPECT isotopes. Five syringe sizes from 1 cc to 10 cc with thumb-screw lock and side lead-glass viewing window. SS-202 standard outer finish; SS-304 medical-grade option. Designed and manufactured in India by Saxsons Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. in an ISO 9001 / ISO 13485 approved plant.

3 mm lead is the routine Tc-99m tier; 6 / 9 mm steps cover the higher-energy SPECT range
Daily Tc-99m cold-kit dispensing — MDP (bone scan), MIBI (cardiac perfusion), ECD (brain perfusion), MAG3 (renal), DMSA (cortical renal). 3 mm lead is the workhorse tier; 3 cc shield is the workhorse size. > 99.95 % attenuation at the 140 keV photopeak keeps per-dispense extremity dose comfortably inside the annual budget.
9 mm lead tier for I-131 oral capsule decant and bulk-solution withdrawal. I-131 at 364 keV needs more lead per HVL than Tc-99m; the 9 mm tier delivers ~3 HVL of attenuation which the workflow pairs with bench-side shielding for higher-activity work.
6 mm or 9 mm tier for the higher-energy SPECT isotopes — Ga-67 (gallium scan, 93 / 184 / 296 keV), In-111 (Octreoscan / WBC labelling, 171 / 245 keV), Tl-201 (cardiac stress, 70–80 keV X-ray + low-intensity gamma). Tier selection follows the dominant photopeak energy per protocol.
1 cc and 2 cc sizes for paediatric Tc-99m kit dispensing where the volume per patient dose is much smaller. The smaller chassis is easier to handle for the careful low-volume aspiration paediatric work needs.
10 cc shield for Tc-99m bulk withdrawal from the generator eluate before per-patient dispense. The single-use bulk syringe carries the day's Tc-99m inventory; the 10 cc shield keeps the bulk handling extremity-dose-protected the same way the per-patient dispense is.
Per-batch lead-thickness certificate + lead-glass thickness certificate ship with every shield. The radiation-safety officer files the certificates in the per-instrument record; the AERB inspector reads them off the inspection dossier at the routine visit.
At 140 keV (the Tc-99m photopeak), the half-value layer in lead is roughly 0.27 mm. A 3 mm wall is roughly 11 HVL of lead — > 99.95 % attenuation of the primary photopeak. Going thicker on a Tc-99m shield adds chassis weight and operator fatigue with negligible dose-rate benefit; 3 mm is the engineered match between attenuation and ergonomics.
A typical Tc-99m dispensing dose-rate at the bare-syringe surface is on the order of millisieverts per hour; through 3 mm of lead it drops by more than three orders of magnitude. Per-dispense extremity dose with the shield in place sits comfortably below the level where the annual AERB 500 mSv extremity budget gets uncomfortable.
A SPECT facility that handles I-131 capsules or solution alongside Tc-99m needs a separate, thicker shield tier. The 9 mm lead variant covers I-131 (364 keV) to roughly 3 HVL — the workflow pairs the shield with bench-side shielding when the per-dispense activity is high.
Variant matrix
Five syringe sizes, three shielding tiers, two outer-chassis finishes plus the standard accessory pack. The per-isotope dispensing-line build sheet matches the size to the dose volume, the tier to the isotope energy, and the finish to the cleanroom-grade expectation.

Accessories Matrix
| Lead-glass viewing window | Operator reads the calibrated syringe volume through the shield; no open-close cycle per dispense |
| Thumb-screw syringe lock | Holds the syringe square in the shield through the dispense cycle; finger access is only at the plunger end |
| Side calibration scale | Engraved scale aligned with the syringe graduations; operator confirms volume against the prescription without removing the shield |
| Saxsons brand mark + size engraving | Inventory tracking; size engraving prevents wrong-shield-for-syringe pick-up at the bench |
Per-batch lead-thickness certificate and lead-glass thickness certificate ship with every consignment. SKUs above are the 3 mm Pb standard variants; 6 mm and 9 mm tier SKUs follow the same pattern with the shielding designator updated.
