Saxsons own-brand tungsten syringe shield engineered for 511 keV PET radiopharmaceutical dispensing — F-18, Ga-68, Cu-64 — and 113 / 208 keV Lu-177 theranostic prep. 9 mm tungsten-alloy shielding reduces finger dose to a fraction of the bare-syringe value; the engraved lead-glass viewing window keeps the dose volume visible while the shielding stays in place. Five syringe sizes from 1 cc to 10 cc; turn-lock on the 2 / 3 / 5 cc dispense-line workhorses, thumb-screw on the 10 cc bulk variant. Size-coded end caps — Red = 2 cc, Black = 3 cc, Blue = 5 cc — make the right shield obvious at glance-speed. Designed and manufactured in India in an ISO 9001 / ISO 13485 approved plant.

Tungsten 9 mm is the design choice between bare-syringe finger dose and the AERB limit
Per-patient FDG dispensing — typically 3 cc turn-lock shield for 350–550 MBq doses. Operator reads the calibrated volume through the lead-glass window; dose is assayed against the dose-calibrator without ever exposing fingers to the bare syringe.
2 / 3 cc turn-lock shield for Ga-68-DOTATATE / DOTATOC / PSMA-11 dispensing post-generator elution. The Red (2 cc) and Black (3 cc) size-coded caps make the right shield obvious at glance-speed against the bench tray.
5 / 10 cc variants for Lu-177-DOTATATE and PSMA-617 patient-dose dispensing — typical patient doses 4–7.4 GBq per administration. 9 mm tungsten covers the 113 / 208 keV Lu-177 doublet and the 511 keV annihilation from Lu-177m / β⁺ contributions.
Investigator-initiated Cu-64 unit-dose dispensing — 1 / 2 cc shield for micro-dose research protocols. Standard PET tungsten attenuation applies across the Cu-64 511 keV annihilation + 1346 keV gamma profile.
Size-coded caps let the radiopharmacist pick the right shield at glance-speed — Red for 2 cc, Black for 3 cc, Blue for 5 cc. Prevents wrong-size pick-up during the high-throughput dispensing shift; tray-level organisation by cap colour matches the daily syringe-size mix.
TLD ring-badge programme — extremity-dose log records dose per dispense per operator. Tungsten 9 mm shielding is the design choice that keeps the annual extremity dose below the AERB 500 mSv occupational limit at typical PET workloads.
Red for 2 cc, Black for 3 cc, Blue for 5 cc — the cap colour tells the operator which size shield they're holding before they read the engraving. On a busy PET dispensing line where 30+ doses pass through per shift, glance-speed size identification prevents the wrong-size shield being picked up and dispensed against.
At 511 keV, the half-value layer in tungsten is roughly 3.0 mm — so a 9 mm tungsten wall delivers roughly 3 HVL of attenuation (~88 % of the primary annihilation flux removed). The combination of high atomic number (Z = 74) and high density (≈ 19.3 g/cm³) means the shield wall stays thin and the chassis stays light — operators can dispense for hours without hand fatigue.
AERB caps the annual extremity (skin / fingers) dose for radiation workers at 500 mSv. A high-volume PET radiopharmacy dispensing 30+ FDG doses per shift can reach a measurable fraction of that limit with bare-syringe handling; a tungsten 9 mm shield brings the per-dispense extremity dose to a level the annual budget comfortably absorbs.
Variant matrix
Five syringe sizes, three tungsten shielding tiers and three geometry variants. The per-isotope dispensing-line build sheet matches the size to the dose volume and the variant to the workflow geometry; the size-coded cap (Red = 2 cc, Black = 3 cc, Blue = 5 cc) makes the right shield obvious at glance-speed.
