Tc-99m SPECT routine
Recommended · 3 mm Pb · cylindrical recessed worktop-mount (RPSC-B-3-01-S-0 SS 202 / RPSC-C-3-01-S-0 SS 304)
Rule · Daily SPECT bench-side sharps from Tc-99m kit reconstitution + dispense workflow. 16 L inner volume covers a typical 25–40 dispense shift.
Why · HVL 0.27 mm at 140 keV; 3 mm Pb = ~ 11 HVL = > 99.95 % attenuation. Bench-side dose-rate stays inside the AERB envelope.
I-131 thyroid therapy
Recommended · 6 mm Pb · cylindrical large (RPSC-A-6-01-S-0)
Rule · I-131 capsule prep + low-activity ablation dispense waste. The 364 keV gamma + the longer half-life mean the 6 mm tier is right above the SPECT baseline.
Why · HVL ~ 3 mm at 364 keV; 6 mm Pb = ~ 2 HVL. Combined with the storage-cabinet hold-pattern, cumulative dose stays bounded.
Routine PET (FDG / Ga-68 / Cu-64)
Recommended · 12 mm Pb · cylindrical large (RPSC-A-12-01-S-0) or square (RPSC-A-12-03-S-0)
Rule · PET unit-dose dispense generates sharps at the rate of ~ 30 per shift at 350–550 MBq each. The 12 mm Pb tier carries the cumulative activity safely until the disposal pickup.
Why · At 511 keV (HVL 4.1 mm), 12 mm Pb = ~ 3 HVL = ~ 88 % attenuation; combined with the recessed worktop mount, operator-facing dose-rate stays inside envelope.
High-activity PET multi-dose source vial
Recommended · 25 mm Pb · cylindrical SS 202 (RPSC-B-25-01-S-0) or SS 304 (RPSC-C-25-01-S-0)
Rule · PET radiopharmacies running multi-dose source-vial dispensing accumulate higher per-shift cumulative sharps activity. The 25 mm tier is the engineered envelope.
Why · 25 mm Pb = ~ 6 HVL at 511 keV ≈ > 98 % attenuation. The 25 mm SS 304 tier supports the clean-room / GMP cleaning-validation cycle.
Lu-177 theranostic suite
Recommended · 25 mm Pb · large cylindrical MS (RPSC-A-25-01-S-0) or SS 202 (RPSC-B-25-01-S-0)
Rule · PRRT / PSMA-617 / FAPI per-patient dispense waste — sharps carry residual Lu-177 activity at the upper end of the radiopharmacy range. 25 mm Pb tier.
Why · Same 25 mm Pb engineering envelope as high-activity PET, with the SS 202 outer recommended for the theranostic-suite cleaning-validation cycle.
Bench-top format (no worktop cutout)
Recommended · Rectangular (RPSC-A-3.2-02-S-0 + RPSC-A-12.7-02-S-0) or square (RPSC-A-12-03-S-0)
Rule · Hot-labs without a worktop cutout use bench-top rectangular / square form factors. The 0.125″ / 0.5″ rectangular and 12 mm square versions cover the routine vs PET tier choice.
Why · Same Pb-tier engineering as cylindrical; different form-factor matches the bench layout. The Saxsons range supports both options without compromising on the shielding tier.
